Police in Independence say a woman died from injuries sustained when she was struck by a vehicle in the City of Independence.
                  
Police Chief Derrick Vold said they were notified just before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday that a woman was struck by a vehicle on Highway 93 in Independence.  She was found unresponsive and first aid was begun. Th victim was taken to Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall were she later died.
                 
The victim's name was not immediately released. The vehicle's driver was interviewed and released.  Authorities said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
