After comments made by Red Wing city council member Mike Schultz concerning positive news about a high-speed rail project, the new chairman of the Minnesota High Speed Rail Commission has been busy trying to verify the information.
Schultz said the $90,000,000 grant for a river route from the Twin Cities to Chicago was a great possibility and that the project was one of two being considered by the federal government.
The Post-Bulletin reports that new Commission Chair, St. Charles Mayor Bill Spitzer, says Schultz's comments came from a misunderstanding.
If the project ever does get funding, Red Wing would be one of the five stops on the route.
