Winona Police are making a required public notification that a convicted sex offender being released from prison will take up residence in downtown Winona.
Police said 42 year old Aric Vernon Wold, formally of St. Charles, is being released Thursday and will be living in the100 block of Third Street. Police said Wold is a classified as a Level Three sex offender which is an indication, under state law, that he may likely to reoffend.
Wold has a history of sexual contact with female victims 14 and 15 years-old including paying victims to take sexually explicit photos of themselves. Online court records show Wold was convicted in October of 2010 of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct and had been sentenced to 3 years in prison.
The public notification is required by state law for Level Two and Level Three sex offenders when they are released.
