Rail Corridor Open House

The third in a series of four open houses on possible changes to freight rail routes in and around Rochester will be held this coming Monday, January 28th, at the Rochester International Airport.

Representatives of the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Olmsted County Regional Railroad Authority will be on hand to present the Southeastern Minnesota Freight Rail Capacity Study.  They will share several scenarios with varying amounts of potential rail traffic through downtown Rochester.

Public comment on the scenarios will help form a final report on the Southeastern Minnesota Freight Study. That study will evaluate the potential to mitigate or relocate the existing Canadian Pacific, and Dakota, Minnesota, and Eastern freight rail line in and around Rochester.

The meeting starts at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the airports's Event Center.

The Fourth and final open house will be held on March 13th at Rochester Community and Technical College.
