The local drug court is the third drug court in the 11 county Third Judicial District and is the result of a three-year $350,000 federal grant.
Persons who qualify have been convicted of crimes and are facing long jail or prison sentences.
The program takes the participants through four different phases and includes drug testing.
So far six people have been taking part.
The purpose of the drug court is to enhance public safety and reduce the costs to the community by helping offenders become law abiding and stable citizens.
The program was developed by the Winona County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
