Rockwell Kent Celebration
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum will partner with several local organizations, to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of artist Rockwell Kent's stay in Winona.
Andy Maus, Executive Director for the museum says the week-long festival, beginning February 6th, will feature exhibits of his works and other activities around the city that illustrate his importance as an international artist.
Maus says part of the celebration includes an original play by Theatre du Mississippi based on Kent's time living in Winona.
Between the selection of prints in the WSU exhibit and Saint Mary's University exhibition, a large number of Kent's prints will be on view for visitors, including examples from most of his major bodies of work.
The opening reception will be from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6th at Watkins Gallery on the WSU campus. The Minnesota Art Museum, SMU and the Winona County History Center will also host receptions that evening.
