MPCA Actions--4th Quarter
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency says it completed 64 enforcement actions in 39 counties during the fourth quarter of 2012.
The actions totaled just over $730,000 in fines and penalties for violations MPCA rules and regulations. The second largest fine...just under $100,000...went to a local company.
The MPCA said Acuity Brands Lighting Corporation, doing business as Winona Lighting, installed and operated paint booths, sandblasters and other manufacturing equipment going back to 1978 without the required air-quality permits. The MPCA also said the company did not submit required emissions reports for each year of operation.
Acuity Brands Lighting Corporation--Winona Lighting also agreed to apply for the necessary permits and submit the required reports.
