State Representative Greg Davids of Preston says he supports the proposed Mayo Clinic expansion project in Rochester because it will be good for southeastern Minnesota and the state.
Mayo has proposed a $500 million project to expand its facilities and create thousands of new jobs over the next 20 years.
Davids says he likes the plan because it won't cost the state much. Davids says Rochester's recently approved increased local sales tax will provide about $20 million in seed money to get the Mayo plans off the ground.
He says a portion of the income tax from the created new jobs would be used to pay off building construction bonds leaving the state with little liability.
