The Buffalo County Board approved buying a couple of squad cars for the sheriff's department, both considered good deals by the county's law enforcement committee.
    
One of the squad cars is a new 2013 Chevrolet Impala police package for a state discount price of $25,400 including new equipment and installation.  The other squad car purchased was a 2007 Chevrolet Impala; a federal vehicle with only 9,000 miles for about $20,000 including equipment and installation.  
    
The two squads will replace older, high mileage cars. The department had one squad with over 131,000 miles and another with 125,000 on Jan. 1. Two other squads were above 100,000 miles.   Sheriff's department squad cars tallied nearly 300,000 miles in 2012.
