The Winona County Board of Commissioners will get an update Tuesday on a public hearing that will be held on February 21st regarding two proposed frac sand mines in Saratoga Township.
Last week two state agencies urged the county to require full environmental impact statements on the Dabelstein and Yoder proposals before issuing permits for them. That decision could come on March 5th. The county is also reviewing a third frac sand mine proposal in the same area.
The Land Stewardship Project has also issued a statement applauding the state agencies' call for a full EIS. The update will come during the board's regular meeting at the County Government Center that starts at 9:00 a.m.
Also on the board's agenda is consideration of a rebate for the St. Charles city recycling program and a decision on guidelines for the recruitment of a new county auditor-treasurer.
