The Winona County Board of Commissioners has decided to remove consideration of a third frac sand mine in Saratoga Township from a joint public hearing with the County Planning Commission on February 21st.
County Administrator Duane Hebert said an application for a permit for the proposed Nisbit mine was added to the public hearing so it could be considered at the same time as the Dablestein and Yoder proposals...in order to eliminate the need for a separate public hearing. Commissioner Steve Jacob favored pulling the Nisbit request because he says it is very different from the other two.
Board members also reminded the public that the public hearing on the Dablestein and Yoder proposals will be held at 7:00 p.m.at the Tandeski Center on Thursday, February 21st. A public hearing date for the Nisbit request will be scheduled at the County Board's February 26th, regular meeting.
Two public hearings on separate issues also on the February 21st, Planning Commission agenda will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the same location.
