The Buffalo County Zoning Committee says it intends to have rural zoning and mining policy changes in place by the time a moratorium on mining expires April 30.
Zoning Chairman Tom Taylor of Naples, Wis., said goals endorsed by county zoning supervisors call for Buffalo County Board action on rural zoning ordinance amendments as well as adoption of a state-required comprehensive land use plan.
The zoning panel and its Land Resources Department also plan to adopt a new industrial sand mining policy before the moratorium expires. The committee introduced preliminary drafts of zoning and policy changes to zoning supervisors Monday in response to general guidelines supported in January.
