The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team came from behind to beat Gustavus Adolphus 76-69 Tuesday night in the first round of the MIAC playoffs. The Cardinals trailed by nine at the half and trailed by as many as fourteen in the first minute of the second half before the Cardinals outscored the Gusties 40-19 over the final nineteen minutes.
Saint Mary’s completed the comeback thanks to outstanding free throw shooting where the Cardinals made 32 of 36 free throws. Jamie Stefely led the way with 16 points while Jessica Thone and Courtney Euerle each added 14.
Saint Mary’s improves to 22-4 and moves on to face second seed St. Thomas on the road in the MIAC semifinals on Thursday night.
