Minnesota Sands, the company seeking permits to operate the Dablestein and Yoder sand mines says it will conduct a voluntary environmental impact statement on the mine sites so there is no need for the public hearing Thursday night.
More details of the E-I-S scope and procedure will be released by the county in the upcoming days.
Public hearings by the Planning Commission on two separate issues not related to the sand mine proposals will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Tandeski Center at Southeast Tech as scheduled.
The Winona County Board had hoped to make a final decision on issuing permits for the Dablestein and Yoder sand mines at its March 5th, meeting. But that decision will now await the completion of Minnesota Sands' voluntary E-I-S.....
