The Winona County Board of Commissioners will be asked Tuesday night to set a date for a public hearing on the completed environmental assessment worksheet for the Nisbit sand mine proposal in Saratoga Township.              .

Last week developers of two other proposed sand mines in the township announced they would voluntarily complete the lengthier environmental impact statement on those two mines delaying public hearings on those mines for as much as a year.

The Nisbit public hearing must be held within 30 days of a written public comment period which ended on February 21st.

Also on the agenda is the awarding of a contract for designing remodeling projects at the Elba and Utica highway shops.... and authorization of a 29-thousand dollar payment for Boundary Commission costs for the unsuccessful efforts to solve a boundary dispute in Elba.

The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the County Government Center and is open to the public.
