Winona City officials are hoping to get Governor Mark Dayton to change his proposal for calculating local government aid payments to outstate cities.
Mayor Mark Peterson said Winona stands to lose as much as $2 million in what is referred to as LGA if Dayton's proposal for changing the formula is approved by lawmakers. Peterson says Winona and Mankato would be among the hardest hit by the proposed changes.
Peterson and City Manager Judy Bodway planned to meet in St. Paul Thursday with the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities to discuss the issue. The Mankato Mayor planned to join them.
