Freight Rail Study

The final open house for the Southeastern Minnesota Freight Rail Capacity Study will be held at the Rochester Community and Technical College next Wednesday, March 13th.  The study outlines the options and costs for routing freight rail either through or around Rochester.

Alternatives include: leaving the existing rail corridor as it is, constructing various improvements to the tracks, adding overpasses for roadway traffic or rail traffic, and possible options for constructing a bypass around Rochester.  The open house will run from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the R-C-T-C Heinz Commons.

It will be the final open house conducted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation on the study findings.
