The Saint Mary’s softball team split a doubleheader against UW-River Falls Sunday. The Cardinals scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and held on for a 4-3 win in game one. UW-River Falls scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull within one run but Paige Carter came in for Kayla Peterson on the mound and closed the door.
Peterson gave up three runs and ten hits in 5 2/3 innings and got the win while Carter earned a save. Nat Boissiere went 2 for 4 with a RBI to lead the offense.
UW-River Falls scored nine runs in the top of the fifth inning in the second game and beat Saint Mary’s 11-1 in five innings. Boissiere drove in the only Cardinal run in the second game.
