Winona State Domintes in Region Semifinals



The top two teams in the NSIC will match up in the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship game on Tuesday night. Winona State cruised past Augustana in the region semifinals 77-65 Sunday night behind a dominating first half performance.

The Warriors shot over 70 percent from the field in the first half and built a 51-29 halftime lead.   Winona State led comfortably the entire second half and the Vikings hit a couple of late three-pointers to make the score closer at the end. Winona State hit 55 percent for the game and their defense also forced Augustana into 19 turnovers.

Taylor Cameron scored a career high 25 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field. Clayton Vette provided the scoring down low with 20 points and Grant Johnson added 19.

Winona State improves to 26-7 and the Warriors will take on number one seed Minnesota State-Mankato on Tuesday night at 7:00 in Mankato. The winner moves on to the Elite Eight in Louisville, Kentucky. The national championship game will be played in Atlanta on April 7th.
