Beginning in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition serves as an opportunity for members of Congress to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each congressional district.
The first place winner will have their artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel, leading to the U.S. Capitol, for an entire year. The art contest is free and open to students in grades 9 through 12 who reside in the First Congressional District.
To receive a student release form and art guidelines, contact your high school art teacher or Ann Spicer in Rep. Walz's Rochester office at 507-206-0643. Artwork must be received in either Rep. Walz's Rochester or Mankato office by April 12, 2013.
