Minnesota's unemployment rate for the month of February remained unchanged from January at 5.5%. The US jobless rate in February was 7.7%.
The latest report from the Department of Employment and Economic Development shows Minnesota employers added 14,500 jobs in February, bringing the total jobs in the state to near the pre-recessionary peak five years ago.
Spokesman Steve Hine called it the biggest job gain over six months the state has seen since early 1984. Hine said Minnesota has gained 62,400 jobs over the past year, a growth rate of 2.3%, compared with the national rate of 1.3%.
He said the labor market is building significant momentum, with all 11 industrial sectors showing healthy job gains over the past year.
