Winona State University Vice President James Schmidt says he is looking forward to becoming the next leader of UW-Eau Claire.
Earlier this week Schmidt was recommended by a search committee to become the next Chancellor of UW-Eau Claire.
While the appointment needs to be affirmed by the UW System board, Schmidt told a Winona Radio audience it was more than his lengthy background in development at Winona State that enabled him to get the new position. He said community partnerships are what both WSU and UW-Eau Claire need to be successful and they have worked in Winona.
A confirmation vote is expected on April 5th and Schmidt is expected to begin his new duties on July First. He has been with Winona State for 14 years.
