U.S. Senator Al Franken will be in Winona Wednesday to discuss his efforts to make college more affordable for students and families at a roundtable meeting at Winona State University. Later Franken will meet with school officials and address a senior class assembly at Winona High School.
At 11:00 a.m., Senator Franken, a member of the Senate Education Committee, will be at WSU University, where he will be joined by students and school officials from WSU, St. Mary's University, and Southeast Technical College as well as local state legislators for a discussion on college affordability. Franken will discuss his efforts to make college affordable in the recently-completed Senate budget.
Franken will be at Winona High School at 1:00 p.m. where he will take a tour of the school led by senior class leaders before speaking at a senior class assembly and taking questions from the students.
