The Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Services had a chance to hear from local citizens, health care providers, and advocates during a panel discussion in Winona Monday at Winona Health.
Lucinda Jesson said the panel heard from a variety of people involved in MinnesotaCare which provides working Minnesotans with access to affordable health care coverage.....
Jesson says the major question facing lawmakers this session is whether to continue with MinnesotaCare or allow people access to the new Health Insurance Exchange instead which Governor Dayton singed into law last week.
The Governor has included funds in his proposed budget to continue MinnesotaCare. His budget expands eligibility for the program. By 2016, it's estimated MinnesotaCare will provide coverage for an additional 160,000 residents if it is continued.
