Altura Sales Tax Proceeds
The City of Altura and three other communities may get a share of the proceeds from Rochester's half-cent local sales tax if Republican Representative Steve Drazkowski is successful with his proposed legislation.
Drazkowski says the 2011 legislature, which approved the renewal of the Rochester local sales tax, also listed several communities around Rochester to share in 5% of the proceeds under the so-called Good Neighbor Plan.
He told Winona Radio News Altura, Mazeppa, Wanamingo, and Grand Meadow were left off the list. Drazkowski says his bill will get a hearing before the House Tax Committee on April 4th, and he is hopeful it will be included in the House Omnibus Tax Bill.
