Winona Police say thefts or merchandise from the Walmart store have been increasing. Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said two separate thefts of laptop computers occurred on the same day Thursday.
Williams said in both instances customers removed the laptops from a display rack and walked out of the store without paying for them. One was taken by a woman and reported at 8:03 a.m...the other by a man and was reported at 7:32 p.m.
One of the items was valued at $700 and the other at $500. In the case of the male, Williams said he purchased other items but placed the laptop in his pants and walked out with it. In both cases the thieves were caught on store video surveillance cameras.
Anyone with any information that can help police locate the suspects is asked to call the police department or Winona Area Crime Stoppers at 457-6530.
