Winona State softball coach Greg Jones picked up a milestone victory Tuesday in the Warriors’ doubleheader sweep of Augustana. Winona State won the first game 6-4 and then Jones picked up his 500th career victory in the Warriors’ 6-0 win in game two. Jones is now 500-187-4 in 13 seasons at Winona State and he owns a .726 winning percentage. He has never had a losing season at Winona State and his teams have qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament eight times.
Jenny Nelson and Britt Stewart both hit their sixth homeruns of the season in game one while Stewart also picked up the win on the mound.
Ashley Walker threw a four-hit shutout in the second game and also went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs while hitting her sixth homerun of the season. Morgan Lintz slammed her 11th homerun and went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Winona State improves to 18-6 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC.
