The Winona Area Public School Board Thursday will be asked to approve an open lunch period at the senior high school.
Superintendent Scott Hannon calls it a pilot program that would be open only to selected students in the senior class.
Hannon also says students would have to indicate in advance if they intend to take part so that the food service can adequately plan the daily menus and prepare the right number of meals.
He says he would like to give it a try.
The open lunch period would allow selected seniors to leave the high school grounds for lunch as long as they stay out of trouble and do not return late for afternoon classes.
The school board meets Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
