The Winona Planning Commission voted 8 to 1 Monday to recommend denial of proposed ordinance amendments that would require all frac sand facilities complete a Transportation Impact Analysis.
Following a short public hearing during which 5 people voiced concerns over increased diesel fumes and traffic, Chairman Craig Porter said they had already recommended an ordinance that would have had covered all truck traffic according to trips made.
Greg Gaut said the biggest problem with the proposed amendments being considered is that they would not apply to Mankato Avenue because it's already a designated truck route.
Commissioner Brian Buelow cast the lone no vote to recommend denial of the amendments.
The negative recommendation will now go back to the City Council for consideration.
