Author and Winona Representative Gene Pelowski, says his measure will call for the first tuition freeze in Minnesota in eight years. Pelowski also says the bill will require the U of M to report on the money it spends and how they spend it...and it will require the U's Board of Regents to approve the tuition freeze before the money is doled out.
Currently the tuition freeze and oversight language is not in the Senate Higher Ed version. Pelowski said the two bills will have to be compromised in a conference committee. Pelowski also said he will meet with Governor Mark Dayton to gauge Dayton's position on the House bill.
