The Saint Mary’s softball team dropped to third place in the MIAC after suffering a doubleheader loss to Hamline. The Pipers moved ahead of the Cardinals in the standings after beating them 9-5 and 9-1 in five innings. The Cardinals got homeruns from Kristen Thelen and Nat Boissiere and scored five times in the fifth to tie the game at five but the Pipers scored four in the sixth to win it.
Hamline scored in each of the five innings in the second game while the Cardinals scored their only run on a RBI single by Mel Hamilton. Hamline pounded five homeruns in the doubleheader sweep. Saint Mary’s drops to 15-8 overall and they are one game behind Hamline in the conference standings at 8-4.
