The Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department said a 14-year-old boy was injured Monday evening when a gun accidentally discharged in the Village of Trempealeau.
Sheriff Richard Anderson said the juvenile sustained an injury to his hand while trying to clear a malfunction in a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun. The injury was sustained when the boy moved a hand in front of the muzzle of the weapon and it discharged.
The victim was treated at a La Crosse Hospital. The juvenile had been target shooting at the time. Anderson said there was no indication of foul play and the incident appears to have been unintentional.
