Police said a 44 year old Rochester man was jailed early Wednesday on drug charges following a traffic stop on Winona's east side.
Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said Chad William Treichel was jailed on charges of felony fifth degree possession of both methamphetamine and a substance commonly referred to as plant food.
Williams said an officer pulled the vehicle over at Sugar Loaf Road near Highway 43 just after 3:00 a.m. Treichel was a passenger in the vehicle driven by 40 year old Angela Treichel.
A search of the vehicle turned up 7.4 grams of the so-called synthetic plant food in a bag under a seat along with drug paraphernalia and two hypodermic needles. Chad Treichel was also initially charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession hypodermic needles. Angela Treichel was released from custody.
