Sunday Alcohol Sales

The Minnesota House Wednesday afternoon said "no" to liquor stores being open on Sunday and on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.

Mazeppa Republican Steve Drazkowski says he supports Sunday sales, saying liquor stores are "buzzing" in Wisconsin, right across the river from Winona, Wabasha and Red Wing.

But Lindstrom Republican Bob Barrett says sales on Sunday would be a bad thing with no additional funds for alcohol treatment or prevention.

Sunday liquor sales is a perennial issue at the State Capitol.
