Safe Route To School Grants
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced the recipients of $3.8 million in federal grants for Safe Routes to School.
The grants will support Safe Routes to School at 105 schools in 61communities.
Included is up to $3,000 to the city of Rushford and the Rushford-Peterson School District to develop a community-wide plan for the creation of safe biking and walking routes to schools.
The city of Red Wing will receive a non-infrastructure grant of just over $27,000 to fund a part-time coordinator to collaborate and implement walking and biking to school, neighborhood "bus hubs;" bike safety training; digital speed signs and crosswalk "stings;" and evaluation.
