Highway 14/42 Intersection
Some short term changes will be made to the Highway 14 and Highway 42 intersection near Eyota following a fatal crash that occurred there last month.
State Senator Carla Nelson of Rochester said the Minnesota Department of Transportation has agreed to the changes while also looking at future changes as well.
The St. Charles Press reports Minn-DOT will install flashing L-E-D stop signs on Highway 42, the "Stop Ahead" pavement messages and stop bars on Highway 42 will be repainted and refreshed, and rumble strips will also be installed on Highway 42 leading up to the Highway 14 intersection.
Nelson said over the long term Minn-DOT is considering installing a "roundabout" intersection where Highways 14 and 42 meet but that would be three to four years away.
A fatal crash occurred at the intersection on April 6th, and there have been other serious crashes there as well.
