Law Enforcement Memorial



A reminder that local law enforcement agencies will hold a special ceremony on Wednesday to mark National Law Enforcement Memorial Week this week.               

The event will be held outside of the Law Enforcement Center beginning at 12:30  p.m.

Members of the Police Department, Sheriff's Department, and the State Patrol will be on hand to pay tribute to officers who were killed in the line of duty.

Three local officers will be honored including Deputy John Schneider who was killed in 1980 in a domestic situation, and Trooper Ted Foss who lost his life when he was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 90 near Lewiston in 2000 while making a traffic stop.

A third Winona police officer who died in the 1870s, will also be honored.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
