Session Adjournment Nears

Come midnight, the Minnesota Legislature's 2013 session will be history.

But some must-pass items have yet to get final approval. They include a plan that raises $2.1 billion in new taxes and another measure to pay for core state agencies, such as the Revenue Department and Department of Veterans Affairs.  Lawmakers are also scrambling to approve a fix-up budget for the state Capitol itself.

There are a host of add-on bills still in limbo. One could lead to unionization in home-based day cares and among home health care workers. Another would raise the minimum wage. Two others would change election and campaign finance laws.

Both the House and Senate are gaveling to order at 11 a.m. for a sprint to the mandatory adjournment deadline.
