State Representative Gene Pelowski says Winona schools and the City of Winona will benefit from legislation passed by Democrats in St. Paul during the just completed session.
Pelowski cited the $550 million investment in K-12 education that will increase funding for school districts and new student assessments for graduation. Pelowski also cited a tuition freeze for post-secondary students and a new wrinkle in the state grant program to assist lower income students pay for their education. In addition, Pelowski said the City of Winona will see more local government aid.
Pelowski said lawmakers also made investments in health and human services including long term care workers and the disability community.
