Two county board committees examined management staffing costs in the Buffalo County Department of Health & Human Services where two proposals were advanced and a third was sent back to committee for more study.
The department has been operating under an interim management plan since January when HHS director Paula Stansbury resigned to take a new post in Pepin County. Sonja Hansen of Alma, an assistant director of HHS and child support services manager has been working as HHS director since Stansbury left. Carrie Renchin of rural Fountain City, a social worker and director of aging services, took on the role of social worker supervisor as part of the interim management plan.
The county's HHS committee recently passed resolutions calling for full-time employment of an HHS director, full-time social services manager and full-time director of aging services. Finance supervisors agreed to send the HHS director and social services manager job resolutions to the full county board next Tuesday.
