The public is invited to be part of a paddling posse to locate invasive species on the Mississippi River. Refuge Ranger Ed Lagace and Refuge Biologist Lisa Reid will search for water lettuce and water hyacinth near Buffalo City, Wisconsin on Friday, June 7th.
The posse will depart from the Lower Spring Lake Landing at 9:00 a.m. and return to the landing by 2:00 p.m.
The Lower Spring Lake Landing is located near Buffalo City, WI on South River Road at the Lock and Dam 5 embankment entrance.
Pre-registration is required by calling Reid at 494-6234. The Refuge will provide canoes, paddles and PFD's for your use or you can bring your own equipment. Binoculars for bird viewing, a lunch and drinking water are recommended.
