The Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau are recognizing 184 Minnesota farms as 2013 Century Farms. Qualifying farms have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years and are 50 acres or more. Century Farm families receive a commemorative sign, as well as a certificate signed by the State Fair and Minnesota Farm Bureau presidents and Gov. Mark Dayton.
Two Winona County farms will be recognized at the state fair this year. They are: the Robert Bain farm near Utica which began in 1902...and the Dale and Eileen Ann Pierce farm, also located near Utica, which has been in the family since 1913. The two farms will also be recognized at the Winona County Fair in July.
Since the program began in 1976, more than 9,700 Minnesota farms have been recognized as Century Farms.
