State Senator Jeremy Miller says he will not run for Congress in 2014.
Miller issued a statement Friday saying after thoughtful consideration by he and his wife Janel, he has decided to remain in his role as state senator representing District 28.
The Republican Miller had been approached by several people to run for the First District Congressional seat held by incumbent Democrat Tim Walz. Miller said his growing family and his responsibilities with his fourth-generation recycling business also were a factor in his declining to run. He and his wife have one young child and are expecting twins in August.
He said he is also focused on serving the people of Winona, Houston and Fillmore Counties. Miller was first elected to the Senate in 2010 and re-elected in 2012.
