The Winona Area Public School Board Thursday unanimously approved Arthur Williams as the new Jefferson Elementary STEM School Principal.
Arthur is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.
After graduating with his Bachelors Degree, he spent seven years teaching at an Elementary level in both 3rd and 5th grades in the Bloomington Public School District at Oak Grove Elementary. While employed at there, Williams also held several leadership roles including, Testing Coordinator, Administrative Lead, Dean of Students as well as Principal.
Most recently he served as Elementary Principal at ACCPA Elementary in Kansas City, Missouri.
Arthur says it's great to be coming back to Minnesota, and he's very honored and excited to be the next principal at Jefferson STEM Elementary. He says he and his wife Adrien, are looking forward to becoming part of the community.
Williams will officially assume his new position August 1, 2013, but plans to work with the Jefferson staff in June and July.
Williams takes over for Mat Nelson, who will be leaving the post at the end of the school year.
Nelson has accepted a post as one of six elementary principals and as Technology Director for the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose school district in the far western Twin Cities suburbs.
