Some 800 people attended the sold out St. Mary's University Red Carpet Centennial Gala Saturday night. The event culminated a year of centennial celebrations and special events and marked the university's first 100 years.
The evening was designed to feel like the Oscars with all of the elegance and glamour transported to the SMU campus. Guests walked the red carpet from valet parking and into a transformed SMU fieldhouse where they were entertained by the 17 piece John Paulson Big Band.
Later in the evening entertainment was provided by Nicholas David and his band. David was a finalist on NBC's "The Voice."
The University's Heritage Award was presented to Winona residents Michael and Joette Gostomski in honor of their philanthropy that has helped transform the SMU campus. Michael is a 1962 SMU graduate.
The Red Carpet Centennial gala was part of the all-school reunion weekend that ran through Sunday.
