Fillmore County Coordinator Karen Brown says the Salvation Army is providing clean up kits to those in the county who have flood damage following the weekend heavy rains that hit the area.
Brown says the kits contain buckets, gloves, mask, mop. brooms and other items needed for cleaning up flooded properties. They are available at no charge and can be obtained at the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office in Preston, the Mabel City Hall, and the Lanesboro City Hall.
Heavy rain has caused flooding in Rushford, Mabel and Lanesboro .
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reported that Highway 43 was closed between Mabel and Choice. MnDOT says Highway 76 between Houston and Caledonia was also closed because of high water at the Yucatan Bridge. Highway 16 east of Houston was also closed because of high water and Fillmore County highway 23 south of Peterson is closed because of a washout.
More rain came early Tuesday.
The National Weather Service said Preston had another inch while Highland had 1.7 inches and Lanesboro reported 0.7 of an inch. In Houston County, Caledonia reported 1.5 inches and Houston had just under 1.5 inches.
