State Senator Jeremy Miller remains confident that the damage from last weekend's floods in Houston and Fillmore County will be enough to seek federal aid.
Miller toured Huston County on Wednesday and Fillmore County Thursday, and while the damage in Fillmore County was not as bad as in Houston County, Miller said it was still pretty significant.
Miller said he is planning to contact Governor Mark Dayton who will have to declare a state of emergency in order to seek federal assistance.
Miller said the damage that occurred in southwest Minnesota and in the Twin Cities can be combined to meet the federal threshold.
But while Houston and Fillmore Counties were hoping to combine their damage with counties in Iowa and Western Wisconsin, Miller said that cannot be done.
