Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Kris Eide has asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to conduct damage assessments following from severe storms and flash flooding which occurred June 20 - June 26th.
Eide said she requested Preliminary Damage Assessments following initial reports of damage across a large section of Minnesota including Houston and Fillmore Counties.
Both Houston and Fillmore Counties sustained extensive damage to roads, bridges, some homes, and farm fields and farm facilities. Houston County initially estimated its damage at nearly $6,000,000,000.
Eide says there's enough information to say the threshold for federal relief has been reached.
Houston County officials initially placed their damage estimate at about $6,000,000,000.
