A project to upgrade and widen the Lake Park bike path was approved on a unanimous vote by the City Council Monday night.
The Council awarded the contract for the to Dunn Blacktop Company.
The total cost will be almost $567,000.
But Assistant City Manager for Public Works, Keith Nelson said almost $200,000 was raised through local donations.
The changes are expected to include widening the path around both the east and west lake to10 feet and providing a smoother surface.
Nelson said the project came in $50,000 under the estimated cost.
The project is expected to get underway in August and be completed this fall.
