Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said the woman was a passenger on a motorcycle that was crossing the railroad tracks on County Road 23 in Stockton when she fell off. Ganrude said a witness said the male driver turned around and came back to the scene and said something to the woman and then drove away.
The woman, whose name was not released, was taken by ambulance to Winona Health and later transferred to Gundersen Healthcare in La Crosse. Authorities were unable to speak with her on Sunday but planned to try to interview her again Monday.
Ganrude said authorities continue to search for the cycle driver. A motorcycle matching a description of the cycle from which the woman fell was discovered abandoned behind a garage in Minnesota City about 10:00 p.m. Sunday.
